Süsteemkaameratele, commonly referred to as interchangeable-lens cameras, represent a significant category within digital photography. These cameras distinguish themselves from compact point-and-shoot models by allowing users to detach and replace the lens. This modularity offers a wide range of creative possibilities, enabling photographers to adapt their equipment to various shooting conditions and artistic intentions.

The core advantage of system cameras lies in their sensor size, which is typically larger than that found in compact cameras. This larger sensor contributes to improved image quality, particularly in low-light situations, and allows for greater control over depth of field, enabling the distinct blurring of backgrounds. The interchangeable lens system is the defining feature, with various types of lenses available, including wide-angle for expansive landscapes, telephoto for distant subjects, and macro for extreme close-ups.

System cameras are broadly divided into two main types: DSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) and mirrorless cameras. DSLRs utilize a mirror and prism system to direct light from the lens to the optical viewfinder, allowing the photographer to see exactly what the lens sees. Mirrorless cameras, as their name suggests, do not have this mirror mechanism. Instead, they use an electronic viewfinder (EVF) or the rear LCD screen to display the image, leading to generally smaller and lighter camera bodies. Both types offer advanced features such as manual controls, high-resolution sensors, and the ability to record high-definition video.
