Sähköpurkaantumisen
Sähköpurkaantumisen, often translated as electrical discharge or breakdown, refers to the process where an insulating material loses its ability to resist the flow of electric current. This occurs when the electric field strength across the insulator exceeds its dielectric strength, the maximum electric field it can withstand before it begins to conduct. When this limit is reached, the insulator can become permanently damaged, or the discharge may be temporary.
Several factors influence sähköpurkaantumisen. The thickness of the insulating material plays a role; a thicker insulator
Common forms of electrical discharge include corona discharge, a faint glow that can occur around high-voltage
