Sângerare

Sângerare is the Romanian noun for bleeding, the act of blood loss. It derives from the verb a sângera, meaning to shed blood. In medical use, sângerare denotes the loss of blood from the circulatory system due to injury to vessels or due to disease.

Bleeding can be external, where blood is visible on the skin or at body openings, or internal, where blood loss occurs inside the body and may be less immediately apparent. It can be acute, as from a cut or injury, or chronic, as in ongoing low-volume loss. In women, vaginal bleeding is a normal part of the menstrual cycle, but abnormal or irregular bleeding warrants medical evaluation.

Causes vary and include trauma or surgery, ulcers or tumors, rupture of vessels, coagulation disorders, medications that affect clotting, and certain obstetric or gynecological conditions. Symptoms depend on the location and rate of bleeding and may include visible blood loss, dizziness, pallor, rapid heartbeat, abdominal pain, or signs of shock in severe cases. Internal bleeding can present with fainting, confusion, vomiting blood, or dark stools.

First aid aims to stop blood loss and prevent complications. For external bleeding, apply direct pressure with a clean dressing and seek medical help if bleeding is heavy or uncontrollable. For suspected internal bleeding or bleeding after injury to the head, chest, or abdomen, seek urgent medical care. Medical treatment focuses on controlling the bleed and treating the underlying cause, which may involve hemostatic procedures, transfusions, or surgery.

Prevention emphasizes safety to reduce injury, proper management of coagulation disorders, and adherence to medical guidance for medications that affect bleeding.
