Szemhéjduzzanat

Szemhéjduzzanat, also known as eyelid swelling, refers to an increase in the size of the eyelid, often appearing as puffiness or a lump. This condition can affect either the upper or lower eyelid, or both, and can occur suddenly or develop gradually. The swelling can range from mild to severe and may be accompanied by other symptoms such as redness, itching, pain, or tenderness.

Several factors can cause szemhéjduzzanat. Allergic reactions, whether to environmental factors like pollen or pet dander, or to cosmetics and eye drops, are a common culprit. Infections, such as a stye (hordeolum) or a chalazion, which are localized infections of the eyelid glands, can lead to significant swelling and discomfort. Insect bites or stings on the eyelid can also cause localized swelling.

Other potential causes include fluid retention due to hormonal changes, such as during menstruation or pregnancy, or as a side effect of certain medications. Systemic conditions like kidney disease or thyroid problems can sometimes manifest with generalized edema, including eyelid swelling. Trauma to the eye area, such as a blow or injury, can also result in bruising and swelling of the eyelids. In some cases, underlying eye conditions like conjunctivitis or blepharitis may contribute to eyelid inflammation and swelling. If szemhéjduzzanat is persistent, severe, or accompanied by vision changes or significant pain, seeking medical attention is recommended to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.
