Szabadkereskedelmi, which translates to "free trade" in English, refers to a trade policy that does not discriminate against imports or exports. In a free trade system, goods and services can be bought and sold across international borders with little or no government tariffs, quotas, subsidies, or prohibitions. The fundamental principle behind free trade is that it allows countries to specialize in producing goods and services where they have a comparative advantage, leading to increased efficiency, lower prices for consumers, and greater overall economic growth.

Proponents of free trade argue that it fosters competition, which in turn drives innovation and improves the quality of products. It can also lead to a wider variety of goods and services available in domestic markets. Economically, free trade can increase a nation's gross domestic product (GDP) and create jobs through increased export opportunities. It is often seen as a catalyst for economic development, particularly for developing nations that can access larger markets for their products.

However, free trade also faces criticism. Concerns are often raised about potential job losses in domestic industries that cannot compete with lower-cost imports.
