Szívbetegségnek is a general term in Hungarian referring to any disease or condition affecting the heart. This encompasses a wide range of conditions that impair the heart's ability to pump blood effectively throughout the body. Common forms include coronary artery disease, which involves the narrowing or blockage of the arteries supplying the heart muscle, often leading to heart attacks. Heart failure is another significant condition, where the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's needs.

Valvular heart disease affects the heart valves, which control blood flow within the heart. Arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, can also be considered szívbetegség, disrupting the normal rhythm of the heart. Other types include congenital heart defects present at birth and cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle itself. Risk factors for developing szívbetegség include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle. Early detection and management are crucial for preventing severe complications and improving outcomes. Diagnosis typically involves physical examinations, electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms, and various blood tests.
