Syväkuormahyllyt

Syväkuormahyllyt, also known as drive-in or drive-through racking systems, are a type of high-density storage solution designed for warehouses. They are characterized by their continuous lanes where forklifts or other material handling equipment can drive directly into the racking structure to load or unload goods. This design significantly reduces the number of aisles required compared to traditional selective pallet racking, thereby maximizing storage space utilization.

The structure of a syväkuormahylly consists of a series of bays, each with multiple levels. Within each bay, there are continuous rails or supports running along the length of the lane. Pallets are stored on these rails, one behind the other. The system is typically configured as either drive-in or drive-through. In a drive-in system, loading and unloading occur from the same side, meaning the last pallet loaded into a lane is the first one to be removed (LIFO - Last-In, First-Out). A drive-through system allows access from both sides of the racking, enabling a FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory management method.

Syväkuormahyllyt are particularly well-suited for storing large quantities of identical products or for situations where product rotation is not a critical factor. They offer excellent space efficiency, making them a cost-effective solution for businesses with limited warehouse floor space. However, their density means that access to individual pallets can be slower than with selective racking, and they are not ideal for storing a wide variety of different SKUs that require frequent access. Installation requires careful planning regarding aisle widths and forklift maneuverability.
