Syöttötulostuslaitteita, commonly referred to as input/output devices or peripherals, are hardware components that allow a computer to interact with the outside world. These devices facilitate the transfer of data into and out of a computer system.

Input devices are used to provide data and control signals to the computer. Examples include keyboards, which allow users to type text and commands; mice and touchpads, used for pointing and selecting items on a screen; microphones, which capture audio; and scanners, which convert physical documents into digital images. Webcams and digital cameras also function as input devices by capturing visual information.

Output devices, conversely, display or present the results of the computer's processing to the user or another system. The most common output device is a monitor or display, which shows visual information. Printers produce hard copies of digital documents. Speakers and headphones convert digital audio signals into audible sound. Projectors can display computer output onto a larger surface.

Many devices can also function as both input and output, known as input/output devices. Touchscreen displays, for instance, allow users to both view information and provide input by touching the screen. Network interface cards (NICs) enable computers to send and receive data over a network.
