Svidovec

Svidovec is a mountain range located in the Ukrainian Carpathians, within the Zakarpattia Oblast. It is part of the larger Gorgany mountain group and is characterized by its wild, forested slopes and rugged terrain. The highest peak in the Svidovec range is Blysnytsia at 1,881 meters (6,171 feet). Other notable peaks include Dogiaska at 1,703 meters and Tataruka at 1,707 meters.

The Svidovec mountains are known for their rich biodiversity, with extensive forests dominated by spruce and beech trees. The undergrowth often consists of dwarf pine and various berry bushes. Several glacial lakes are scattered throughout the range, the most famous being the Lake of the Seven Shepherds (Synevyr), although this lake is technically located on the border of the Svidovec and Gorgany ranges. Other smaller, less accessible lakes can be found in the higher altitudes.

The area is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering challenging trails and opportunities for observing wildlife. Access to the Svidovec range is typically gained from nearby villages and towns, with several marked hiking routes leading to the peaks and lakes. The remoteness and relatively untouched nature of the Svidovec contribute to its appeal for those seeking wilderness experiences.
