Suunenäsuojukset

Suunenäsuojukset, commonly translated as "mouthguards" or "dental guards" in English, are protective devices worn in the mouth. They are designed to shield the teeth, gums, and jaw from injury during sports, or to prevent damage caused by teeth grinding.

There are several types of suunenäsuojukset. Stock mouthguards are the least expensive and are pre-formed. They offer basic protection but can be bulky and difficult to speak or breathe with. Boil-and-bite mouthguards are also relatively inexpensive and can be customized by immersing them in hot water and then biting into them to create a more fitted shape. Custom-fitted mouthguards are made by a dentist and are the most expensive option. They are molded to the individual's teeth and offer the best fit, comfort, and protection.

Suunenäsuojukset are frequently used in contact sports such as boxing, hockey, football, and martial arts to prevent chipped teeth, broken jaws, and other oral injuries. They are also prescribed by dentists for individuals who suffer from bruxism, the involuntary grinding or clenching of teeth, typically during sleep. Wearing a mouthguard for bruxism can alleviate jaw pain, headaches, and prevent excessive wear on the teeth. Proper cleaning and storage are essential for maintaining the hygiene and longevity of any suunenäsuojus.
