Suspensionskonstruktion refers to the design and engineering of suspension systems in vehicles. These systems are crucial for a vehicle's ride comfort, handling, and safety by absorbing shocks from the road surface and maintaining tire contact. A suspension system typically consists of springs, dampers, and linkages. Springs, such as coil springs or leaf springs, store and release energy to absorb impacts. Dampers, commonly shock absorbers, dissipate this energy to control the oscillations of the springs. Linkages, like control arms or wishbones, connect the wheels to the vehicle's chassis, guiding their movement.

Various types of suspension constructions exist, each with different characteristics. Independent suspension allows each wheel to move vertically without directly affecting the other side, leading to improved ride quality and handling. Common independent designs include MacPherson struts, double wishbone, and multi-link suspensions. Dependent suspension systems, such as solid axles, link the wheels on opposite sides, meaning a bump on one side affects the other. This design is often simpler and more robust but can compromise ride comfort. The choice of suspension construction depends on factors like vehicle type, intended use, cost, and desired performance. Advanced suspension systems can incorporate active or semi-active components that adjust damping or stiffness in real-time to optimize performance for varying road conditions.
