Common bases include fatty substances such as cocoa butter or hardened fats, as well as hydrophilic bases like polyethylene glycol or glycerinated gelatin.

Vaginal suppositories are used for local infections, irritation, fungal infections, or to deliver hormonal or other therapies. Administration: For rectal use, wash hands, and, if advised, moisten the tip, then insert the suppository beyond the internal anal sphincter using a finger or an applicator. For vaginal use, lie on your back with knees bent and insert the suppository into the vaginal canal. Always follow the specific product instructions regarding insertion depth and frequency, and wash hands after use. Some products may require cooling or refrigeration before use.

Safety and handling: Do not use if you have an allergy to any component. Local irritation, allergic reactions, or irritation of surrounding tissues can occur. Overdose can happen if more than the recommended number of suppositories is used. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should consult a healthcare professional before use of products containing certain active ingredients.
