Suojahioa
Suojahioa is a Finnish compound term formed from suoj a ("protection") and hioa ("to sand, grind or polish") and is used to describe sanding or surface-finishing operations carried out in preparation for protective treatments. The term is encountered in contexts such as woodworking, metalworking, automotive refinishing and building restoration when a surface is prepared to receive coatings that protect against corrosion, moisture, wear or UV exposure.
Typical suojahioa practices include sequential use of abrasives with progressively finer grits, removal of old coatings
Health and safety considerations are important in suojahioa because sanding generates respirable dust and can release
While not a standardized technical term in all industries, suojahioa succinctly denotes the preparatory sanding stage
