Physiological risks are primarily related to the effects of pressure on the human body. Nitrogen narcosis, commonly known as "the rapture of the deep," can impair judgment and motor skills at depth due to the increased partial pressure of nitrogen. Equipment-related risks stem from malfunctions or improper use of scuba gear. A regulator failure can lead to an inability to breathe, while an air leak can result in a rapid loss of air supply.
