Suite

A suite is a unit of rooms designed to function together as a single living or working space, or more broadly, a set of related items offered as a package. The word derives from the French suite, meaning sequence or continuation, from suivre, to follow.

In music, a suite is a collection of instrumental pieces intended to be performed together. In the Baroque era, suites typically consisted of a set of dances in a common key, such as the allemande, courante, sarabande, and gigue, arranged in various orders. Over time, the concept expanded to orchestral, chamber, and film music, with movements linked by mood, tempo, or thematic material.

In computing, a software suite is a bundled package of related programs designed to operate together, usually sharing data formats and interfaces. Common examples include office suites that combine word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation tools. Some suites emphasize cloud collaboration or compatibility across devices; Google Workspace is the current name for what was formerly G Suite.

In hospitality, a hotel suite is a multi-room accommodation with a separate living area and bedroom, and often a kitchenette or dining space. Suites are typically larger and more luxurious than standard rooms, and hotels offer several tiers, such as junior, executive, and penthouse suites, sometimes with enhanced views and amenities.

Outside lodging, the term can also describe a connected set of rooms within a building used for a particular purpose, such as a diplomatic suite or a governing suite, emphasizing the idea of a coordinated space rather than a single room.
