Stemningen

Stemningen is a term in Danish and Norwegian that denotes the mood or atmosphere of a person, place, event, or situation. It captures the emotional tone, ambiance, and general vibe rather than specific facts. The word can describe both an individual feeling and a collective sentiment felt by a group.

In everyday use, stemningen describes how a space feels (the cozy, lively stemningen of a café) or how a social gathering unfolds (a tense stemning in the room after the news).
