Stationilises

Stationisles are a group of fortified structures located in various parts of the world, particularly in the Middle East and Europe. They date back to the medieval period and served as defensive outposts or fortified villages.

One of the earliest recorded stations of this type was the Jerusalem's Station of Eclis, built by the Crusaders in the 12th century to provide a secure gateway to the city. Another example is the Stations of the Holy Family in Jerusalem, believed to be built on the site where the Virgin Mary may have taken refuge.

Common architectural features of Stationisles include high walls, watchtowers, and fortified gates. They were often built at strategic locations such as crossroads, marketplaces, or key trade routes. While some Stationisles served as simple toll stations, others proved to be pivotal in the control of surrounding areas. Stationisles often included properties such as rustic separations, confined areas, or high ground passages for better access to challenging terrain.

Many Stationisles were established to control a powerful local population or shield out unwanted individuals. Throughout European history, these stations fell between confluence of different religions or general ethnic group animosities. Crustations.
