Starrväxter

Starrväxter, also known as Stellaria media, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the Caryophyllaceae family. Native to Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa, this annual or biennial herb has been naturalized in many other parts of the world.

Characterized by its star-shaped flowers and fine, hairy leaves, Stellaria media can grow up to 10 centimeters tall. The plant's flowering period typically occurs in late spring and early summer, with tiny white, pink, or sometimes purple blossoms emerging in clusters. Each flower has five petals and contains numerous seeds, which are dispersed through the wind.

Starrväxter often thrives in wet environments, such as fields, meadows, and along roadsides. It is commonly found in disturbed or cultivated areas where the soil is fertile and moist. As an adaptable species, the plant can also grow in shaded areas, including under trees or in woodland edges.
