Stanovie

Stanovie is a town and administrative center in the fictional country of Stanovia, located in the central lowlands along the Stan River. Covering about 38 square kilometers, it has a population of around 8,800 people as of 2023. The name is derived from the river and from historical usage as a staging point for local communities.

Geography and climate: The town sits at an elevation of about 120 meters and experiences a temperate continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. The river provides a mild floodplain and supports riverside parks and markets.

Stanovie first appears in records in the 12th century as a market village on a trade route. It grew with fortifications and a ceremonial market square in the 15th–16th centuries, expanded during the industrial era with ironworks and timber processing, and later transformed into a service-oriented town after World War II.

Economy and infrastructure: The local economy combines light manufacturing, food processing, and agriculture, with several family-owned mills and workshops. The town is served by a regional road network and a railway line linking it to larger cities; the nearest regional airport lies about 40 kilometers away.
