Staaken

Staaken is a district in the westernmost part of Berlin, Germany, located within the borough of Spandau. Historically, it was a village outside of Berlin that was incorporated into Greater Berlin in 1920. For much of the Cold War, Staaken was divided. The eastern part was within East Berlin and the western part was in West Berlin, forming part of the Spandau district of West Berlin. Following German reunification, the entire area was reintegrated into the unified city.

The district is primarily residential and characterized by a mix of older housing stock and more modern developments. It is bordered by the districts of Gatow, Kladow, and Zehlendorf, as well as by the municipality of Dallgow-Döberitz in Brandenburg. Staaken is relatively green, with several parks and wooded areas. The Havel River is also nearby, offering recreational opportunities.

Transportation in Staaken is facilitated by bus lines and the S-Bahn, with the Staaken station serving as a key transport hub. The area has seen ongoing development and infrastructure improvements in recent decades. While it may not be as prominent as some of Berlin's central districts, Staaken offers a quieter, suburban lifestyle within the expansive metropolitan area.
