Spiraalilevyjäähdytin

Spiraalilevyjäähdytin, known in English as a spiral plate heat exchanger, is a type of heat exchanger designed for efficient heat transfer. It consists of two concentric spiral channels, one for each fluid. The fluids flow in opposite directions, creating a counter-current flow pattern which maximizes the temperature difference and thus the heat transfer efficiency. One fluid flows through the outer spiral channel, while the other flows through the inner spiral channel.

The construction typically involves two metal plates rolled into spirals. The spacing between the plates is maintained by spacers, which also help to create turbulence in the fluid flow, further enhancing heat transfer. Spiraalilevyjäähdytin are known for their compact size, high thermal efficiency, and ability to handle viscous fluids or fluids containing solids. They are also relatively easy to clean due to their smooth internal surfaces.

These heat exchangers are commonly used in various industrial applications, including chemical processing, food and beverage production, and HVAC systems. They are particularly well-suited for applications requiring precise temperature control, or where space is limited. The design can be adapted for different operating pressures and temperatures by selecting appropriate materials and wall thicknesses. Maintenance is generally straightforward, with access to the channels often achieved through removable end covers.
