Spindelens
Spindelens is a genus of bioluminescent basidiomycete fungi described in 2210 by mycologist L. Kestrel. Endemic to the temperate forests of the fictional planet Valoria, the genus currently includes two species, Spindelens alba and Spindelens cerulea. The name Spindelens combines the spindle-shaped stalk that characterizes the fruit bodies with a conventional genus suffix. Both species are noted for producing a soft green glow in darkness, arising from luciferase-like enzymes in the cap tissue.
Morphologically, Spindelens fruit bodies are small to medium, with slender, cylindrical stipes up to 8 cm tall
Ecology and distribution: Spindelens grows on decaying hardwoods and forest litter in moist microhabitats at elevations
