Speedlace refers to a rapid-lacing system used in footwear to tighten and secure the shoe quickly without the need to tie traditional knots. The term covers several implementations that replace or augment conventional laces with one-pull tightening mechanisms, locking devices, or elastic components, enabling a secure fit with minimal effort.

Most speedlace systems involve a lace or cord that runs through a simplified set of eyelets or loops and is secured by a toggle, small lock, or integrated mechanism. The design aims to distribute tension evenly across the foot and prevent loosening during activity. Some versions use elastic laces that maintain baseline tension as the foot expands and contracts, while others rely on standard laces paired with a locking clip. The primary advantages are speed, convenience, and consistency of fit, which can be especially helpful for users with limited dexterity or those who need to adjust tension on the fly.
