Specialbeställda is a term used in Swedish business language to describe items that are manufactured, assembled, or configured specifically to meet a customer's unique specifications, beyond the standard catalog offerings. These items are ordered through a formal procurement process and are typically distinguished from standard stock by custom design, dimensions, materials, finishes, performance criteria, labeling, or packaging. The concept can apply across industries, including furniture, machinery, electronics, vehicles, and industrial equipment.

The process generally involves the customer providing a detailed specification, sometimes with drawings or prototypes, followed by feasibility assessment by the supplier. If feasible, an agreement or purchase order is issued that defines scope, lead time, price, quality requirements, and warranty terms. Production may include design review, prototyping, testing, and acceptance criteria. Because of customization, lead times are longer and pricing is higher than for standard items. Returns and cancellations are often restricted or subject to special terms.

Key considerations for buyers include supplier capability, traceability, and post-sale support. For suppliers, specialbeställda orders carry higher risk of obsolescence, longer payment cycles, and the need for detailed documentation.
