Spansions

Spansion was a company that manufactured flash memory. It was formed in 1999 as a joint venture between AMD and Fujitsu, initially named Fujitsu AMD Semiconductor Limited. The company was later renamed Spansion LLC in 2003. Spansion was a significant player in the non-volatile memory market, producing embedded flash memory, NOR flash, and NAND flash solutions. Their products were commonly found in a wide range of electronic devices, including automotive systems, consumer electronics, and industrial equipment.

In 2009, Spansion filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. It emerged from bankruptcy later that year as a private company. In 2013, Spansion became a public company again through a merger with an acquisition company. In 2015, Spansion was acquired by Cypress Semiconductor Corporation. The acquisition integrated Spansion's flash memory business into Cypress's portfolio, creating a larger entity in the semiconductor industry. The Spansion brand has since been largely retired, with its products and technologies now part of Cypress Semiconductor.
