Spanningsrelais

Spanningsrelais, also known as voltage relays or over/undervoltage relays, are protective devices used in electrical systems to monitor and respond to voltage levels. They are designed to detect when the voltage in a circuit deviates from a predefined acceptable range, either rising too high (overvoltage) or falling too low (undervoltage).

The primary function of a spanningsrelais is to safeguard connected equipment from potential damage caused by voltage fluctuations. For instance, if the voltage exceeds a safe operating limit, the relay can trigger an action, such as disconnecting the power supply to the protected device. Similarly, if the voltage drops below a critical threshold, it can also initiate a protective response, preventing malfunctions or damage that could occur due to insufficient power.

Spanningsrelais typically consist of a sensing circuit that continuously measures the input voltage and a switching mechanism. When the measured voltage falls outside the set thresholds, the relay's internal circuitry activates the switching mechanism, which can be a mechanical contact or an electronic output. This output is then used to control other devices, such as contactors, circuit breakers, or alarms.

These relays are widely used in various applications, including industrial machinery, power distribution systems, domestic appliances, and automotive electronics. Their ability to react quickly to abnormal voltage conditions makes them essential components for ensuring the reliability and longevity of electrical equipment.
