Soulrend

Soulrend is a legendary blade within the fantasy tradition, described as a blackened steel longsword whose edge glows with a red inner light. The hilt is wrapped in dark leather, and the pommel bears a blood-red gem. In lore, the weapon was forged during the Dark Wars by a master runesmith who bound a fragment of a trapped soul to the blade, giving it a malevolent sentience that can speak in whispers to its wielder.

The weapon is said to siphon life essence from those it wounds. On each successful strike, Soulrend drains a portion of the target’s vitality and soul energy, granting the wielder enhanced vigor and, at times, temporary necromantic or soul-stealing abilities.
