Soneplukking

Soneplukking, a term originating from Danish and Norwegian, translates to "zone picking" or "area picking" and refers to a method of object retrieval or selection within a defined spatial area. This concept is commonly encountered in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management. Instead of picking items from a vast, undifferentiated space, soneplukking involves dividing the storage area into smaller, manageable zones. Pickers are then assigned to specific zones and tasked with retrieving all the required items within their designated area before moving to another zone or completing their task.

The primary advantage of soneplukking is its potential to increase efficiency and reduce travel time for pickers. By concentrating their efforts within a limited area, pickers spend less time traversing the entire warehouse. This can lead to faster order fulfillment and a more organized workflow. Furthermore, it can simplify training as new employees can be assigned to less complex zones initially.

However, soneplukking also presents challenges. If not managed effectively, it can lead to bottlenecks if one zone is significantly busier than others or if there are delays in replenishing stock within a particular zone. Careful planning of zone size, item placement, and workload distribution is crucial for successful implementation.
