Origin and usage: The term is derived from broader European languages and is used in political and social theory to discuss social cohesion, justice, and mutual aid. In Estonia and other post‑Soviet and European contexts, solidaarsuse is invoked in debates about welfare state arrangements, taxation, and international aid.

Forms and applications: National level—social security, universal health care, education; Corporate and labor contexts—trade unions, collective bargaining, and worker solidarity; Internationally—development aid, humanitarian relief, and cross‑border cooperation.
