Skydivare

Skydivare is a modern aerial sport that blends precision skydiving, formation flying, and choreographed freefall movement with coordinated canopy techniques. Teams of four to eight divers perform planned sequences during freefall, followed by a synchronized canopy descent to a target zone. Scoring emphasizes technical control, spatial accuracy, timing, and artistic impression, while prioritizing safety and altitude awareness.

The term Skydivare was coined by early practitioners in the 2010s to reflect the fusion of sport parachuting and performance art. Practice communities emerged across Europe and North America, with demonstrations at national championships, airshows, and developing youth programs.

Competition format centers on a preplanned sequence of positions and movements executed within a defined freefall window, followed by a canopy routine that stresses landing accuracy. Judging combines objective markers (formations completed, altitude bands, landing zone hits) and subjective assessments (timing, fluidity, synchronization, and overall presentation). Rules prohibit unsafe maneuvers and require adherence to standard jump procedures.

Equipment consists of standard sport parachuting gear—a main canopy, reserve, helmet, and altimeter. Many teams use wearable cameras for documentation and judging, subject to event rules about timing and privacy. Safety protocols emphasize proper training, jumpmaster oversight, and adherence to aviation regulations.

Governing bodies include a World Skydivare Federation and national associations that organize leagues, national championships, and world-level events. The sport has development programs and showcases at skydiving festivals, contributing to its growing international presence.
