Skiran

Skiran is a city and municipal center in the northern lowlands of the fictional nation of Eldoria. It sits on the Skiran River and has an estimated population of about 70,000. The city’s economy centers on manufacturing, logistics, and agro-processing, with a regional rail and highway network that connects agricultural hinterlands to national markets.

The name Skiran is believed to originate from the older Eldorian terms skir, meaning edge, and an, meaning place, reflecting its position at the boundary of woodland and farmland.

Skiran was established as a fortress in the 12th century to guard important trade routes. It gained town rights in 1382 and expanded as a market center during the 15th and 16th centuries. Industrial growth began in the late 19th century, transforming the city into a regional manufacturing hub. Modern administration follows a mayor-council model since 1995.

The city occupies a broad floodplain with access to several navigable streams. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cold winters, and average annual precipitation around 650 mm.

The municipal government operates under a two-tier system with a mayor and an elected council. Key industries include food processing, metalworking, and logistics services; major employers include a regional packaging plant and the central rail freight terminal.
