Sjóræningur

Sjóræningur is the Icelandic word for pirate. It refers to individuals who engage in robbery and criminal violence at sea or on the shores of a state. Historically, piracy has been a significant issue in maritime trade routes, with pirates attacking merchant vessels to steal their cargo and sometimes taking hostages for ransom.
