Sinussageduste, also known as sinusitis, is an inflammation of the mucosal lining of the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities located within the bones of the face and around the nasal passages. The condition can result from infections caused by viruses, bacteria, or fungi, as well as from non-infectious triggers such as allergies, nasal polyps, or structural abnormalities in the nasal passages.

Symptoms of sinussageduste typically include facial pain or pressure, nasal congestion, a reduced sense of smell, thick nasal discharge, and sometimes a cough or fatigue. Bacterial infections may require antibiotics, while fungal sinusitis may necessitate antifungal medications. Allergic or non-infectious causes often respond to antihistamines, nasal corticosteroids, or immunotherapy.

Preventive measures include maintaining good hygiene, avoiding smoking, managing allergies, and addressing structural issues through surgery if needed. Proper hydration and steam inhalation can also help alleviate symptoms. In persistent or severe cases, consultation with an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist is recommended for personalized treatment planning.
