Sicherheitsstruktur

Sicherheitsstruktur is a term used in German-speaking contexts to describe the organized arrangement of measures, roles, and processes that protect an organization’s people, information, and physical assets. It combines organizational governance, technical controls, and physical security into an integrated framework with the aim of preventing, detecting, responding to, and recovering from security incidents while supporting operational continuity and regulatory compliance.

The structure comprises several components. Governance and policy development establish the direction and management support for security activities. Risk management involves identifying, assessing, and treating risks to assets and operations. Organizational roles and responsibilities define the security function, such as security officers, data protection officers, and incident response teams. Technical controls include identity and access management, encryption, network segmentation, and vulnerability management. Physical security covers perimeter protection, access controls, and surveillance. Monitoring and detection use logging, security information and event management, and anomaly detection to identify incidents. Incident response and recovery encompass incident response plans, business continuity, and disaster recovery. Training, awareness, and supplier security address human factors and third-party risk.

Implementation follows a lifecycle of planning, risk assessment, design, deployment, operation, and continual improvement. Sicherheitsstruktur is often aligned with established standards and frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 22301, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and, in German contexts, BSI Grundschutz. It is a broad governance concept that links security concepts, architectures, and concrete controls into a coherent, auditable program, tailored to an organization’s size, sector, and regulatory environment.
