The Shift key, often abbreviated as "Shift," is a modifier key found on most computer keyboards. It is typically located on the left side of the keyboard, near the bottom row of letters. The Shift key is used to input uppercase letters, numbers, and various symbols that are not found on the standard keyboard layout. When pressed, it modifies the behavior of other keys, allowing users to access a secondary set of characters.

For example, pressing Shift and the number 1 simultaneously produces an exclamation mark (!).
