SensorSpulebased refers to a class of sensors that utilize a coil of wire, often referred to as a "spule" in German, to detect changes in magnetic fields or induce electrical currents. These sensors operate on the principle of electromagnetic induction.

In a typical sensor spulebased system, a changing magnetic field passing through the coil induces a voltage across its terminals. This induced voltage is proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux. Conversely, if a current is passed through the coil, it generates a magnetic field, which can then interact with external magnetic materials or fields.

Applications of sensor spulebased technology are diverse. They are commonly used in proximity sensors to detect the presence of metallic objects, as their magnetic field is disturbed by nearby conductive materials. Inductive loops embedded in roads are a prime example, used for vehicle detection in traffic systems and toll collection.

Furthermore, sensor spulebased devices are crucial in non-contact measurement systems. They can be employed to measure the speed and position of rotating components by detecting the magnetic signatures imprinted on them or by sensing the presence of magnetic targets. In some security systems, they are used in metal detectors. The design and material of the coil, as well as the associated electronics, are critical factors in determining the sensitivity, range, and specific application of the sensor spulebased device.
