Sendermottaker

Sendermottaker is a Norwegian term used in information technology, logistics, and administrative documentation to describe the two parties involved in a transmission: the sender and the recipient. The term can refer to the pair as a concept or to the data fields within a document that identify who sent something and who should receive it.

In practice, sendermottaker appears in tools and standards for electronic communication, including email, messaging protocols, data exchange formats (such as EDI), and application programming interfaces. The concept also appears in invoices and other documents where it is important to record both the originator and the intended recipient. Identifiers may include email addresses, organization numbers, customer IDs, or other routing keys; metadata often includes timestamps and status.

Why it matters: correct identification of the sender and recipient enables proper routing, authentication, access control, and auditable traces. Privacy and data protection considerations apply, especially when personal data is involved; systems typically enforce minimal data processing, encryption in transit and at rest, and strict access controls.

Notes: in some contexts the terms avsender and mottaker are used separately rather than as a compound word, and in multicast or broadcast scenarios the recipient may be multiple or not a single entity. Some standards prefer to reference the roles as "sender" and "receiver" rather than the compound Norwegian term.
