Selkäydinjatkeen

Selkäydinjatkeen, also known as thoracic outlet syndrome, is a condition that occurs when there is compression or irritation of the nerves or blood vessels that travel through the thoracic outlet, a small passageway in the upper chest. This outlet is formed by the first rib and the collarbone (clavicle), and it is through this space that nerves and blood vessels pass to supply the arms.

The most common symptoms of selkäydinjatkeen include pain in the neck, shoulder, or arm, weakness in the hand or arm, numbness or tingling in the fingers, and coldness in the hand. These symptoms can vary in severity and may be intermittent or constant. Treatment options may include lifestyle modifications, such as avoiding repetitive overhead movements and using ergonomic workstations, as well as physical therapy to improve posture and strengthen the muscles in the neck and shoulder. In some cases, surgical intervention may be necessary to correct structural abnormalities and relieve compression of the nerves or blood vessels.
