Selfacceptance

Self-acceptance is the recognition and acceptance of all aspects of the self, including strengths and weaknesses, desires and limitations, without excessive self-criticism or denial. It involves acknowledging one’s thoughts and feelings as they are and maintaining a sense of worth that is not contingent on achievement or approval. Self-acceptance differs from unconditional endorsement of every action; it means accepting the person while still choosing behaviors that align with one’s values.

In psychology, self-acceptance is linked to well-being and resilience and is distinct from self-esteem, which evaluates one’s value, and from self-compassion, which responds to suffering with kindness.
