Sekvensioidut

Sekvensioidut is a Finnish term used to describe a class of mathematical objects that generalize the notion of a sequence. The word is formed from sekvensio (sequence) and the suffix -oidut, signaling likeness or resemblance to a sequence. In Finnish discussions, sekvensioidut are sometimes called sequenceoids in English. The concept is informal and appears mainly in theoretical contexts and hobbyist writings rather than as a single, standard definition.

Definition (informal): A sekvensioidut consists of an indexing structure I together with a rule that assigns to each finite index-path in I a value, together with coherence conditions that ensure compatibility when paths are extended or shortened. The indexing structure is often taken to be a tree or a partially ordered set; the values can be elements of any data type.
