Sekundærstabilitet is a term used in various fields, including engineering and economics, to describe a situation where a system's stability is maintained through compensatory mechanisms rather than through its inherent design. It implies that a system, while not intrinsically stable, can remain functional and avoid collapse due to the presence of feedback loops or corrective actions.

In engineering, secondary stability can be observed in structures or mechanical systems that might be initially prone to instability under certain loads. However, through the use of dampeners, control systems, or specific material properties, the system can actively counteract destabilizing forces. This means that while the primary structural integrity might be challenged, the secondary systems ensure overall stability.

In economics, secondary stability can refer to the resilience of a market or economy that, despite experiencing shocks or imbalances, is able to recover and maintain a steady state. This could be due to factors like market regulation, fiscal policies, or the adaptive behavior of economic agents.
