Seitsenottelulla

Seitsenottelulla, often translated as heptathlon, is a track and field combined event competition in which a female athlete competes in seven different disciplines. The event is typically held over two consecutive days. On the first day, athletes compete in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200-meter dash. The second day consists of the long jump, javelin throw, and 800-meter run.

The heptathlon was introduced as a women's event to parallel the men's decathlon, which involves ten disciplines. The aim of a combined event competition is to test an athlete's all-around skill across a range of athletic abilities, including speed, strength, endurance, and technical proficiency. Athletes are awarded points based on their performance in each individual event, with higher points for better results. The athlete with the highest total score across all seven events is declared the winner.
