Sec7GEFs
Sec7GEFs are a family of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) that play a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways. These GEFs are characterized by the presence of a Sec7 domain, a conserved catalytic module responsible for activating small guanine-binding proteins (GBPs), primarily members of the ADP-ribosylation factor (ARF) family. ARFs themselves are key regulators of vesicular transport, membrane trafficking, and actin cytoskeleton organization within eukaryotic cells.
The primary function of Sec7GEFs is to promote the exchange of GDP for GTP on ARF proteins.
Sec7GEFs are involved in a wide range of cellular functions including Golgi apparatus organization and function,
