Scrumi

Scrumi is a fictional framework described in speculative design and certain narrative works as a hybrid of agile software development and contemplative storytelling. The name combines Scrum, an iterative project-management approach, with Rumi, the 13th-century poet, signaling a fusion of process and meaning.

In the Scrumi model, work is executed in short iterations similar to sprints. Teams hold regular ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. In addition, Scrumi prescribes reflective rituals such as story circles or poetry-infused retrospectives to surface human factors—empathy, motivation, and sense of purpose.

Roles mirror Scrum with a Scrumi Master akin to a Scrum Master, a Product Owner, and a Development Team; however, Scrumi emphasizes collaborative decision-making and inclusive storytelling. Artifacts include a backlog, sprint goals, and a reflective journal.

As a fictional construct, Scrumi appears primarily in speculative fiction, design fiction, and experimental projects; there is no formal standard or widespread adoption in real organizations. It is used to explore tensions between rigid process and human-centered work, and as a literary device to examine teamwork and meaning in collaborative endeavors.
