Scribebant
Scribebant is a putative genus of small marine invertebrates that has been proposed in a handful of taxonomic surveys of the benthic meiofauna. It is currently placed within the phylum Platyhelminthes, class Rhabditophora, order Tricladida, though its familial affiliation remains unresolved due to the scarcity of definitive morphological and genetic data. Species attributed to Scribebant are described as flattened, dorsoventrally oriented worms measuring 3–5 millimetre in length, possessing a simple pharynx and a tripartite digestive tract typical of triclads. Their epidermis is thin and translucent, often revealing the underlying gut and reproductive organs, while the ciliated ventral surface facilitates locomotion across soft substrates.
The geographic distribution of Scribebant is believed to be limited to temperate coastal zones of the North
Scientific interest in Scribebant surged following a 1998 expedition to the Outer Hebrides, where several specimens
