Scissortailed

Scissortailed refers to a physical characteristic primarily associated with certain species of birds, most notably the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus forficatus). This trait is defined by the bird's tail feathers, which are unusually long and deeply forked, resembling the blades of a pair of scissors. When the bird is in flight, these elongated, divaricating tail feathers are particularly prominent and are the defining feature for which the bird is named.

The scissortailed morphology serves several purposes in the birds that possess it. In the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, the long tail is thought to aid in aerial maneuvers, allowing for precise flight adjustments during insect hunting.
