Satakarni
Satakarni is the name of several rulers of the Satavahana dynasty, a major political power in the Deccan region of ancient India. The Satavahanas ruled from roughly the 2nd century BCE to the 2nd century CE, with their heartland around Pratisthana (modern Paithan, Maharashtra) and influence extending along the Konkan coast into central India. They left inscriptions in Prakrit written in Brahmi script and produced coinage and Buddhist art that illuminate their era.
The most well-known bearer of the name is Gautamiputra Satakarni, who reigned in the 1st century CE.
Other rulers named Satakarni appear in later generations, including Satakarni I, II and III in various inscriptions.
The Satavahanas also contributed to cultural and religious life in the Deccan, supporting early Buddhist art
