Sashimisushi, commonly referred to as simply *sashimi*, is a traditional Japanese dish consisting of thinly sliced raw fish or meat served without rice. While often associated with sushi, sashimi is distinct in that it omits the rice component, focusing solely on the freshness and quality of the seafood. The term *sashimi* (刺身) translates to "pierced body," reflecting the practice of slicing the meat or fish with a sharp knife.
