Saque-Aniversário, meaning "Birthday Withdrawal" in Portuguese, is a special withdrawal modality for the FGTS (Fundo de Garantia por Tempo de Serviço) in Brazil. This option allows FGTS account holders to withdraw a portion of their balance annually, on the month of their birthday.

Introduced by the Brazilian government, Saque-Aniversário aims to provide FGTS contributors with more flexibility in accessing their funds throughout the year, rather than only in specific circumstances like dismissal without just cause or retirement.

When opting for Saque-Aniversário, the worker receives a percentage of the balance in their active and inactive FGTS accounts, plus an additional fixed amount. This percentage and fixed amount vary based on the total balance in the accounts. It is important to note that choosing Saque-Aniversário means the worker forgoes the right to withdraw the full FGTS balance in case of dismissal without just cause. In such a scenario, only the amounts deposited up to the date of dismissal would be accessible, plus a penalty charge.

Workers can opt for Saque-Aniversário through the FGTS app, Caixa Econômica Federal website, or at a Caixa branch. Once the option is chosen, it remains in effect until the worker decides to cancel it. The cancellation takes effect 25 months after the request.
