Sammelquote

Sammelquote, literally meaning “collective quota” or “aggregate quote,” is a German term used in several fields to denote a target share, proportion, or total that is gathered, accumulated, or accounted for as part of a larger collection. Because it is not a fixed universal term, its precise meaning varies with context.

In statistics and market research, Sammelquote commonly refers to quotas assigned to subgroups within a sample. It describes how many units are needed from a category (for example, age group, region, or gender) so that the final sample represents the population. The term often appears in connection with quota sampling. Researchers monitor the Sammelquote as data collection progresses, aiming to fulfill the predefined quotas before concluding fieldwork.

In other contexts, such as rights management or publishing, Sammelquote can denote the share of works, licenses, or payments collected by a central agency or a consolidated quota across several rights holders. The usage is variable, and the term should be clarified in contracts or methodology sections to avoid ambiguity.

Example: A survey aims for 1,000 respondents with quotas of 400 women and 600 men. The Sammelquote for women is 40% and for men 60%; as respondents are recruited, the counts are tracked to meet these quotas.
